Grass always looks greener on the other side

Hi,

“Grass always looks greener on the other side” – Dollar Bahu

Wow!!! What a Quote!!! Perfectly suits with lifestyle and expectation of us. Am I right?

I started to read Shantaram, As I have said in my earlier post. But you cannot read Shantaram in one seat (Basically its big book) and meanwhile I got Dollar Bahu novel written by Sudha Murty and I have completed it in one seat. I took 4 hours to complete this book, not because of small story but because of interesting story. One Hindi television series, Dollar Bahu , aired on Zee Tv channels in 2001 based on the Novel.

The Original book “Dollar Sose” written in Kannada .Then it has been translated into Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Malayalam and Hindi.

“An affecting tale of how money corrupts the way people look at one another and how it almost tears a family apart”. Based on this concept (novel concept), I have concluded some effective turns and points from novel.

  • A poor and beautiful girl with beautiful voice have to adjust everywhere because of poverty.
  • A Rich and average looking girl gets what she wants.
  • A Man thinking about Dollar and try to set in USA lost his love because he has been in USA since # of years.
  • People around us always compare Dollar with Rupee and also compare persons based on money not based on his/her behavior.
  • Bad and Good things always together. People in India are not getting much money compare to USA, while People settled in USA have to left family.
  • Cannot compare people from different country.
  • Cannot judge people by their country and culture of country.
  • Grass always looks greener on the other side.

I read number of translated stories which are originally written by Sudha Murty and I like those. Dollar Bahu is overall good story with strong concept basically target to Indian people but concept is not limited to Indian people.  I was getting bored while reading last 4 chapters, because of same concept across last 6-7 chapters. But I like first ten chapters and last 2 chapters. You can also read this book in one seat (Total 142 pages).

I enjoyed it. I am giving 3/5 to this book. Read this book while getting time.

Some very profound points you have derived!!!!!!!! Almost everyone in our age and time will be able to relate to these thoughts.

I think everyone goes through the Money Vs family or career vs family struggle…..with different results and there is no way of saying which is the correct way…..

Sounds like a good book will definitely add to my list……
