…Tale of Friendship and Cricket…

Excerpt from Book:
Unruly and reckless, thirteen-year-old Romi is the hero of his universe. His great affinity for adventure and the unknown is shared by his gang – the rascal Sukhi, the deadpan Sunny, the naïve Golu and his blood brother, Kim.

When legendary Kim disappears from Mauji, it is left to the four to conquer the maidan with cricket and the world with their wits. Of course, they must prepare for responsibility in between and, one day, go after Kim.

It is the story of four kids – Romi, Sunny, Golu, Sukhi – who are in their early teens and go high for anything that revolved around cricket. Romi – a main character of book-, a thirteen year old boy, deeply passionate about cricket. Romi and his gang of friends spend their evenings playing Cricket in the maidan. Like every child, Romi collects the pictures of his idols and stores. He adores them. Romi and his friends are promoted to ninth grade. Inter school cricket tournament is the major thing they vouch for. However, they don’t make it to the list of the players. So, the junior class competes with the senior class to prove their capabilities. Though, they do not win the match, they earn a huge amount of respect. And that is a huge achievement for them. The newspapers bears news about them the very next day. Book is not only about cricket. It’s about dream, friendship, teenage life and passion.

I didn’t like “Anything for you ma’am” because I found that script immature but When I read “Romi & Gang”, I surprised by author’s writing style. Its so simple and so mature. It is very risky to write fiction book on cricket in India where most of Indian loves cricket. If you are not good with cricket in book, there is possibility for book failure but Author took this risk and written book so wonderfully. Though this book is not for all but if you have some interest in any sport (specifically in cricket), then you will love this book. There is always some x-factor which make friends very close to each other and author shown friendship of 4 friends through cricket.

Note: I received a copy of “Romi & Gang” from publishing house (Pirates Publisher) and I am very much thankful to publishing house to share such a beautiful novel.

Extra Shot:
There is only one secret which is not part of the mind, and that is witnessing, watching. Thoughts are passing, desires are moving, memories are coming and going like clouds in the sky and you are sitting silently simply watching, not doing anything. If you do anything immediately the mind starts functioning. What you do does not matter – doing is part of mind. A non-doing witnessing, just witnessing, as if a mirror goes on witnessing whatsoever passes by – that is awareness. And that awareness takes you beyond the mind. It is true meditation.
