…Page Turner… Captivating…

Excerpt from Book:
Meet the clique that rules Fidelity High: Olivia, Zelda, Nordica, and Shelly, each one handpicked by uber-popular Hamilton Best.

You know you’re “in” when you make the guest list for one of Hamilton’s parties. And in the thralls of senior year, everyone wants to get noticed by Hamilton.

But Hamilton’s elite entourage is coming apart at the seams. Olivia fantasizes about finally having a boyfriend, Zelda dreams of ditching high school, Nordica wants to be alone with her photography, and Shelly’s plotting to dethrone Hamilton. Lies and secrets are ripping away the careful ties that have kept them together for years. But Hamilton has the biggest secret of all, one that only her boyfriend Alex knows.

If the truth got out, it would shock everyone and destroy Hamilton’s fragile world and shell do anything to protect her secret and keep her clique together.

“Popular” is story about Hamilton Best. She is the most popular girl at Fidelity High. She is popular because she is smart and cool and powerful, but she is petty and superficial; ordinary and nervous; independent and cynical; different and disaffected. She throws parties that everyone wishes to attend. To be on the guest list is a badge of honor, a symbol of popularity. Alex is her devoted boyfriend. Her social circle is exclusive and she’s chosen four girls to be in her clique – Olivia – droll and cynical, Zelda – weird and moody, Shelly – overly concerned with what other people wearing, and Nordica – shy and nervous. . Novel starts with self introduction by each girl from Hemilton’s clique and how they met and became part of clique.

But all is not right in the clique. All 4 wants to separate out from Hemilton and so from second popular tag and which leads to unusual events. With this dissension among her friends, Hamilton can lose everything she’s established. Especially when she’s carrying a disturbing secret, one that only Alex knows about.

Some good lines from book:

  • Just because someone is the most popular girl in the school doesn’t mean they will always be the most popular girl in the school.
  • What separates a really good party from an only okay one is that it’s the sort of party people will still remember and still talk about years from now.
  • Traditions aren’t something you can just make up. They have to build themselves over time.
  • Don’t ever change. Stay true to yourself.
  • Don’t try so hard to be one when you’re not. Just be yourself.
  • Communication is two-way street.

When I started reading this book, I assumed that it will be just another teen/YA novel about school or girls or may be some level of mystery but I amazed by twist. It’s so captivating that I was unable to put down the book. Amazing novel. Grab it and read it.

Note: I received a copy of book from Marina Fernandes [JAICO Publishing House] and I am very much thankful to her to share such an amazing novel.
